Reno Tan, or Say Hau as some of you might know him as – is one of the youngest up-and-coming stylists on the Hairloom team. Representing Singapore recently at the 2012 Goldwell ColorZoom competition, his work garnered much admiration and accolades from hair experts in the industry. The best is yet to be for Reno – and we can’t wait to see what else he will be coming up with!
Here, we have a quick chat with him about his journey as a Hairloom stylist so far.

About the Goldwell ColorZoom Competition 2012 experience in London
“I was really excited, and I really enjoyed the experience. I learnt a lot through the competition – especially going to London and seeing many different things. Attending the Vidal Sassoon class was a highlight, and I got so much inspiration from it all.”
On the 26th, there will be a hair show by Goldwell, which is the 10th anniversary of the Goldwell ColorZoom competition. So I will be showcasing my work during the show – very excited to show what I have learnt so far!”

On how he defines his style
“Edgy. Modern. Wearable – but also inspired by high fashion.”

On where he gets his inspiration
“Mostly online – and through lookbooks. Toni & Guy, VS, Wella – all the trendsetters in the industry.”

Why he loves being a stylist
“I build confidence through my work – creativity on the job is very fulfilling, especially when clients are receptive to my work and return to ask for me specifically.. When I get inspired, I can bring it to life on my clients and I love that.”
