We regularly take part in competitions like the Goldwell ColorZoom 2018 competition to showcase our creative skills. It’s also often a great opportunity to push the envelope in terms of the looks we create. Described as “amazing fashion meets stunning hairdressing artistry”, this international competition always poses an engaging challenge!

Competitions help us stay on top of the game

On top of the thrill of the possibility of representing Singapore on the world stage, competitions in general  provide a fun way to flex our creative muscle. We also love the opportunity to experiment with edgy looks and techniques. Plus, we get to exchange knowledge and stay in touch with global trends. Ultimately, constantly challenging ourselves better equips us to bring to you the best in all areas: technical skill, creativity and product knowledge.

This year, six members of our team took part in the annual Goldwell ColorZoom 2018 competition. Stylists Mervyn, Bosco and Junz, leading stylist Terence, creative stylist Reno and chemical expert Fern all submitted entries. (If you may recall, our creative stylist Reno Tan got to represent Singapore in London. He was in the Goldwell ColorZoom finals in the ‘New Talent’ category in 2012!)

Goldwell ColorZoom’s theme in 2018 is Elemental:

The visionary and the elemental come together: Rawness meets refinement.
Solidity merges with translucency. Tone-on-tone colors play with
contrasting colors. Modern minimalistic shapes bear a rough, primal edge.
Airy handcrafted shapes express future-forward styling. Fuse technology with
creativity and return to the primal.

Our team had lots of fun coming up with each look!

Wish us luck for the semi-finals!

We’re also proud to announce that multiple entries were selected for the semi-finals. We have our fingers crossed for the finals, so that Hairloom may get yet another chance to represent Singapore on the world stage! See some of our previous competition and editorial work here.
